The Friends of Andersonville is an organization made up of members from across the United States and Canada.  Our members are a diverse group with one common goal, which is to promote Andersonville National Historic Site in the best light possible and to assist the National Park Service with relating the Prisoner of War story to the public sector.  The primary recipient of donations made to support our efforts is the Andersonville Trust

The Friends of Andersonville provide support directly to Andersonville National Historic Site through donation of funds via the Andersonville Trust while facilitating volunteer support for park projects, programs and activities.  As a member of the Friends of Andersonville, your tax deductible membership dues or donation of money will enable you to assist the staff in attaining both short-term and long-term goals established for the park. In addition to monetary support, you can provide support for these programs through volunteering your time.  Our volunteers assist with development of various programs and exhibits presented by the staff of Andersonville National Historic Site as well as providing labor for larger projects.

The direct support afforded by The Friends of Andersonville allows Andersonville National Historic Site to provide for:

  • Continuing support and data management of the POW databases, provided for the visitors and for research.
  • Treatment/restoration/preservation of existing artifacts and the purchase of Andersonville and other POW-related artifacts.
  • Educational exhibit production and equipment.
  • Audiovisual equipment for interviewing and recording interviews with former POWs.
  • Maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Cleaning and restoration of monuments and gravestones within the park and National Cemetery.
  • Research projects.
  • Acquisition of research/library books.

Please join the Friends of Andersonville and become an active part of this endeavor to inform the public of the often forgotten story of the POW and the sacrifices they made on behalf of our country.
